April Earth Day Celebrations in Rossland

Join the Sustainability Commission and local organizations for Earth Day Celebrations throughout the month of April.  
 
TUES-THURS April 11th-13th
Regular Library Hours (10am-8pm):The Rossland Museum & Discovery Center presents Royal BC Museum Mini Museums @ Rossland Library. Learn about 4 of BC’s species at risk through interactive, family friendly displays.
 
THURS April 20th
3:00pm-4:30pm: Afterschool Earth Day Seed Starting Fun @ Rossland Library. Drop in to the Library’s Afterschool program and plant some seeds with Gill.
 
SAT April 22nd
8:00am-4:00pm: RDCK's Trash to Treasure Day @ your street curb. Place unwanted household items on the curb with a 'Free' sign that lets treasure hunters know that the items are up for grabs. Remember to remove any unclaimed treasures from the curb at the end of the day.
 
9:00am-3:00pm: SPCA bottle drive @ Parking Lot across from the Prestige. Kkeep those drink containers out of the landfill and help care for shelter animals while they wait for their new forever homes.
 
9:00am-12:00pm: Wetland Open House @ North Jubilee Wetland (near RSS). Learn about the wetland restoration project from members of the Rossland Society for Environmental Action and Streamkeepers. Did you know that Streamkeepers is monitoring teh condition of Trail Creek?
 
9:00 am-12:00 pm: Plant a Tree on Earth Day! @ the Rossland Library. Pick up a larch, pine or spruce seedling and plant it in your yard. Each seedling $1. Proceeds will help purchase bee friendly shrubs for the Community Garden.
 
9:00 am – 12:00 pm: Composting and Chicken Coops in Bear Country @ the Rossland Library . Come talk with Des Profili and get some tips to help you compost and raise chickens safely in bear country.
 
9:00am-12:00pm: Rossland Real Foods annual Chicken Coop & Compost Crawl - Chickens? Ducks?  Pallet composters vs worm bins?  Put on your walking shoes and learn about composting and backyard chicken coops from experienced Rossland backyard farmers during Rossland Real Foods annual chicken and compost crawl. Saturday April 22 from 9 am -12 noon.  Pick up a map at the Rossland Library or download a brochure here.  
 
11:00am-3:00pm: Special Earth Day Edition of our awesome Rossland Mountain Market. First outdoor market of the season at the regular outdoor market location on Queen Street!
