Garden Gold:  The Art & Science of Composting

Join Rachael Roussin at the Community Garden for a hands-on introductory Composting Workshop.  

Saturday June 17th from 10 - 11 am

Rossland Community Garden,  North end of Jubilee ParkR


Rachael is passionate about soil and compost.   She holds a Masters in Land & Water Systems and is one of the driving forces behind Rossland’s food and agriculture initiatives.  She has been a market gardener, Farmers Market coordinator, Bear Aware coordinator and agricultural consultant.  She has been  composting successfully in her own backyard here in Rossland for nearly 10 years.  She is also a member of the Food Task Force of the Rossland Sustainability Commission.


Rachael will tackle  the basics of composting including:

·         The science of composting

·         Why bother?  The importance of composting

·         How to build or choose a compost bin

·         Composting in bear country

·         Finished compost & its uses

And then we'll put it all into practice and build a compost heap.

Come prepared to get dirty.   Meet at the Community Garden - rain or shine!
