The Heritage BC Conference Comes to the Kootenays!

Heritage BC, a charitable heritage conservation non-profit is excited to bring its annual conference to the Kootenays this October 1-3. Heritage BC will be celebrating British Columbia’s heritage and the area’s great history during this three-day event of fun and educational activities at the Miners’ Hall in Rossland, Oct 1-3.

The conference is open to everyone with plenty of fun walking tours, informative talks, hands-on workshops and Prospector’s Dinner at the Miners’ Hall on Friday October 2. Best of all those local to the area can access conference registration and Prospector’s Dinner tickets at discounted rates!

The conference kicks off with a free event at Rossland Museum at 6.30pm on Thursday October 1.

Retired CBC broadcaster Mark Forsythe will discuss “How He Caught the Heritage Bug” and his experiences with heritage in B.C. at this relaxed and entertaining talk. You will be treated to light food, and Gold Rush themed cocktails will be available from the licensed bar. Spaces are limited so reserve your place at www.heritagebc.ca

The conference will take place in Rossland’s heritage venues and covers topics based on the theme ‘The Main Thing’ - promoting main streets as a vital part of heritage conservation and economic stimulation as well as B.C.’s cultural communities, climate change and more. Your registration includes all workshops and talks, refreshment breaks, and lunch on the Friday and Saturday. A la carte workshop selections are available for only $35 per workshop for those who can’t make it to the entire conference.

Heritage BC Executive Director, Kathryn Molloy invites everyone to “Join us on Friday night for a Prospector’s Dinner at the Rossland Miners’ Hall.  There is a great line-up of fun activities including a Heritage Speed Meet, a prospector-themed dinner, and lively entertainment from the Boomtown Garter Girls and the Gold City Fiddlers. We invite those living in the West Kootenay Region to attend the dinner for just $40”.

The conference wraps up on the afternoon of Saturday October 3 with a number of informative and interesting walking tours, including tours of Columbia Cemetery, Rossland Museum, downtown Rossland and a carpooling tour to Trail.
