Gallery Programs & Operations Assistant

Hours: average 12 - 15 hours a week
Hourly wage: $13-14.50 DOE

Supervisor: Gallery Director

Requirements & Preferred Skills:

-Applicant must be a full-time Student during the time of employment.
-Computer Literate and Social Media skills a must.
-Work well with others and take direction from supervisor.
-Able to lift/move 25 lbs+.
-Ability to carry out tasks independently and in a timely manner.
-Great communication and organizational skills.
-Interest and experience in the arts and dedicated to gaining experience and knowledge in the career field of the arts and/or non-profits.*
-Able to work weekdays after school and occasional evening/weekend.
-Able to represent the VISAC Gallery in a positive, engaging, and appropriate manner.
-An eager and strong work ethic with the ability to be flexible and take on additional tasks.
-Customer service experience a plus.
-Experience with youth or facilitating groups a plus.

Responsibilities and Roles:

-Gallery Attendant: Open up gallery to ensure it is ready for guests, greet and assist guests, educate oneself to current exhibits to answer questions and interpret current works, able to make and record sales. Ensure safety of art during shift. Maintain all Gallery and workshop spaces.(more details in gallery attendant handbook.

-Curator's Assistant: Assist Director with the installation and prep of new exhibits.

-Director’s Assistant: Organize and maintain records, collections, and supplies. Helping with the managing of gallery projects. Assisting with event coordination.

-Social Media Liaison and Promotion: Aid in the promotion of Gallery exhibits, classes, and programs. Maintain and promote the VISAC Gallery’s social media pages to engage target audiences.

-Class & Workshop Helper: Assist instructors with preparing the gallery for classes and workshops, manage supplies, assisting with supervision (youth programs), and clean up.

*This position is a learning position where skills such as curating, event planning, digital media creation, and program planning will be taught and supported.
