Summer Day Camp: A Walk in the Forest

This is an interesting new time that we are living in. Does this current climate cause kids to grow or fear?
"Nature is important to children's development in every major way : intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. Play in nature is specifically important to developing capacities for creativity, problem solving and intellectual development."
-Kellert , 2005-
Within these forest walks I will hold a safe space for children to explore, discover, and play, becoming grounded and leaving the sense of fear behind. The forest around us is a living curriculum where we can watch, wonder and create together. With each group I will focus on connection/relationship to each other and to our environment; my work being a co-collaborator discovering inquiring and playing along the way. The goal being a sense of belonging.
I am an early childhood educator with 18 years of experience in many different school settings and different philosophies. My last position being in Victoria managing Moss Rock Preschool. An urban, nature based, learning through play program which focused on the importance of community and relationships.
