Wednesday October 20 7:30 to 8:45 pm Thursday October 21 7:30 to 8:45 pm Trail & District Arts Council presents the Marc Atkinson Trio at the Rossland Miners Union Hall. After more than two decades of musical output, Marc Atkinson is both difficult to define The current Trio includes Jody Rutherford (guitar), Scott White (bass). And for this performance they’re being joined by Cameron Wilson, a violinist and composer known for his genre-crossing virtuosity and near-limitless musical creativity. Wilson plays with the National Broadcast Orchestra, Van Django, and Mariachi del Sol (amongst other ensembles); his compositions have been heard on the CBC, NPR, and the venerable BBC; and he’s recorded with everyone from Bryan Adams to Spirit of the West. Atkinson is arguably as well known for his contributions to Canada’s roots/acoustic music Along the way, Atkinson has emerged as a skilled record producer, taking the helm on While Atkinson is distinctly uncomfortable discussing music awards, he is the recipient of Marc received the 2021 Instrumental Solo Artist of the Year at Canadian Folk Music Atkinson lives, writes and records music on Hornby Island, one of the beautiful Gulf Islands “It’s not just that Atkinson is so technically proficient that he can spin out seemingly impossible-to-play, breathtaking lines at will, it’s the emotional nuance and sense of humour in his work that are so engaging.
