Bear cub wandering town alone?

Has anyone spotted a small bear cub around town that seems to be on its own? Saw it twice this afternoon once in Pinewood and once crossing the highway just below Columbia.  It may have an injured back leg or foot and doesn't seem to be doing that well. Wondering where the mother is...calling the CO will probably lead to it being killed if it is an orphan. Are there any wildlife rehab centers around the Kootenays anymore?

There really isn't much around Rossland. There's a shelter in Kamloops but not sure if they accept bears since a lot of places don't. There's a really good place in Smithers, BC that specializes in bears and has taken bears as far away as the Kootenays before so they would probably be the best bet to get in touch with. Seems like they take bears from all over BC. Here's their website http://www.wildlifeshelter.com/index.html and their number is 250-847-5101. Hope that helps!

I had to report someone hitting a bear last night on the highway, 200m towards Red from the Gas Station. I hope its not the same one. The guy who asked me to call went back and the bear was gone. :(

I did see a small bear, like the one you describe. He was in my neighbour's backyard on Thompson Ave last week (maybe 2 weeks ago now). He was walking with a "limp" - my thought was injured leg or hip. He was alone at that time.
