March 11 to 13 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundaries (AABBS) is a non-profit society formed to provide free Avalanche Skills Training (AST 1) to youth between the ages of 12 to 18 in the Kootenay area.

Mission Statement
To raise awareness and educate youth in decisions making about backcountry travel and avalanche safety by providing age appropriate courses in the West Kootenay region.

About
AABBS is a non-profit society founded in the spring of 2009 by a group of Nelson ski industry and business professionals concerned about the increasing numbers of teens venturing out into the back country without any avalanche and/or mountain safety training.

Thanks to the generosity of the many donors supporting the effort, the AABBS provided free Avalanche Canada (AC) approved Avalanche Skills Training (AST) courses to approximately 250 Nelson and area youth between the ages of 12 to 18 since 2009.

This is a free course for youth with limited capacity (12). Registration is on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested, please stop by our Snowsports office to pick up your registration package or call us at 778-457-5001 to have your name put on the wait list.
