Ages: 5 - 12 years Cost $9 / members, $10 / non-members or buy a 10X punchpass (1 free session). $81 / members and $90 / non members.
I will have a student assistant to keep the activities dynamic and interesting with good supervision and we will be available to meet students directly at RSS. During these months our program will have a rotating activity, with some activities still to be confirmed. Each week of the month will feature a different focus.
Week 1: Discover Our Town: Visiting a local site or business (eg: courthouse) Follow up activity at the Library
Week 2: Outdoor Fun!: (Skating at the outdoor rink, snowshoing, sledding fun. Follow up science activity at the Library
Week 3: Eco Science Outside: We will have a different eco-science related activity with a follow up mini Museum activity (on loan from RBCM) at the Library.
Week 4: Outdoor / Land Art (snow painting, snow sculpting, land art with natural objects)- Follow up science or art activity at the Library
Looking ahead to sometime in March we will also have the opportunity to borrow and explore a small discovery box on loan to Touchstones - Nelson Museum from the RBCM, called "the Writing on the Wall". This small travelling exhibit explores the lives of immigrant Chinese workers and settlers to Canada more than 100 years ago. Many of there stories were recorded in the form of "graffiti" poetry on rooming house walls and will be available for us to view and discuss.
