FREE RIDE SKI BUS SCHEDULE TO CHANGE MARCH 20

Tourism Rossland will reduce the operating hours of the Free Ride Ski Bus for the remainder of the ski season. Starting on Monday, March 20th, the last bus will depart downtown Rossland at 6:30 p.m. The last bus from Red Mountain Resort will leave at 7:00 p.m.

The cancellation of the 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. service from downtown is necessary due to financial limitations. As Andras Lukacs from Tourism Rossland explains, “after reviewing usage data, the Board of Tourism Rossland concluded that the cancellation of late-evening service will have the least impact on our visitors, residents and local businesses.”

The Free Ride Ski Bus is currently financed through the Resort Municipality Initiative and contributions from various tourism stakeholders. The service provides an essential transportation link between downtown Rossland and Red Mountain Resort. Last season the bus transported over twenty thousand passengers. Moreover, a partnership between Tourism Rossland and BC Transit provides additional free transportation during high occupancy times.

Tourism Rossland is committed to work with various stakeholders to find a sustainable funding model to provide the service next season.
