Mail in Northport

Anyboyd know the curent deal with crossing the border back and forth to get mail?  Is a PCR test still requried?

No PCR test required. I went to Spokane last weekend, they didn't ask for anything about vaccinations when I entered the US. For return, you need to download the ArriveCAN app and fill in all the details, proof of vaccination, etc, for your return to Canada. Some people are randomly chosen for PCR tests to get once in Canada, but it's not a requirement for anyone to enter.

To clarify, no PCR test is required as long as you're fully vaccinated. If you're not, you still need to provide test results.

I went across for a concert a week or two ago...just a friend and myself in the car. My friend had to do the random mail-in PCR test (Canadian side), and I did not. He wasn't as stoked as me to come back north.

Re-entry is the only annoying part. Crossing the US side is as it was, pre-covid.

Thanks, does two shots count as fully vaccinated or is a booster needed?

Everything you need to know is here:

FYI you can be selected for a random pcr test even if you're vaccinated. I've been three times and was randomly selected once.

I read that web page...can someone calrify. If you have two doses of the same vaccine that does not count as fully vaccinated?

Two doses of the same vaccine is acceptable and also two different ones as long as the vaccines are on the accepted list. Here's an excerpt copied from that link:

"Accepted vaccines

Vaccines accepted by the Government of Canada for the purpose of travel to and within Canada:

AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)

Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)

Janssen/Johnson & Johnson

Medicago Covifenz

Moderna (Spikevax, mRNA-1273) including for children aged 6 to 11 years

Novavax (NVX-COV2373, Nuvaxovid, Covovax)

Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2) including for children aged 5 to 11 years

Sinopharm BIBP (BBIBP-CorV)

Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller, you must have received, at least 14 calendar days by the day you travel:

at least 2 doses of a vaccine accepted by the Government of Canada for the purpose of travel

or a mix of 2 accepted vaccines

or at least 1 dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine"

Hey dylan! Great question, I just went through all the bs lately. i contracted covid during Easter weekend or before who knows, it was all good. 8 days after my positive rapid test results, 10 days after onset of symptoms, I decided to cross the border and pick up a parcel. Didn't think anything of it, even though I knew waaaaay better, and as the Canadian border guard was passing me back my passport, his screen made a noise and he was off to grab me a randomly selected take home pcr test. 20 minute trip.... oh crap yes, a fantastic test that it is so accurate it picks up viral debris from weeks ago.  So I did my duty. Two hours later, after registering with lifelabs, answering countless questions, and giving soo much personal information, making an appointment for an in person/online video conference that didn't work, they called and walked me carefully through the testing and packaging procedure.  The next day I dropped off the test in trail, not an inconvenience as I work in trail, but definitely an inconvenience to the highly skilled pharmacist who had to take down all kinds of my information, his time matters more than this. Then it was sent to Vancouver to the lab via fed ex, and then... 8,  read it 8 days later I received my positive covid result.  Confirming that I was covid positive 16 days before. It was a lovely representative from lifelabs who called to tell me about my results, she claimed public health would call me. They never did. This is such a waste of everyone's time, and our tax dollars. Remember when a 48 hour trip didn't require a test back in summer 2021?  I just spoke with a friend today who also crossed lately to pick up a package and was randomly selected.  My advice Dylan, make sure it is worth it, like an epic girls weekend or Paul mccartenay or something better than kids skate shoes. Hopefully these ineffective rules that do not stop a highly infectious respiratory disease change soon. This virus doesn't have a passport or respect borders.
