Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre

The Rossland Historical Museum Association was founded in 1955 and operated from its current site since 1967. The museum was constructed to tell the fascinating story of the discovery of gold on Red Mountain and the industrial and social development of the community of Rossland, most notably through skiing. The Association operates the museum to interpret and display the community’s rich history, including the Cominco and the West Kootenay Power & Light Company stories, the Hunter Brothers Store, the Roger Terhune Geology Building, and the Ski Wing. We have an onsite archives in the main building, which is used extensively by historians, teachers, students, genealogists, and regularly utilized in our exhibition and programming efforts. Rossland’s Visitor Centre is also run by the association and located in the main building for the convenience of our visitors.
