City Launches Official Community Plan Update

January 11, 2021 Press Release – For Immediate Release Rossland Launches Official Community Plan Update Rossland, BC – Imagine Rossland, Future Ready. It’s time to update our Official Community Plan (OCP) and we need your help! Starting today, the City is seeking public participation in a survey that will be our first foray this year into public engagement surrounding the update of our Official Community Plan (OCP) in 2021. This first survey, to be followed by additional engagement activities, will be available through the OCP Update website https://rossland.city/ocp-update , as well as paper copies that will be distributed to the Library and City Hall. " I am so excited that our Official Community Plan community engagement process is about to begin. This is the most important guiding document for the city for the next decade. The last OCP has served Rossland very well but now it's time to review, refresh and reflect on our direction for this next phase of our community life. Be sure to get involved and give us your views about everything you can think of for the betterment of Rossland." said Mayor Kathy Moore. The OCP is an important bylaw that describes the long-term vision of community development in Rossland. It includes objectives and policies that guide decisions on planning and land use management, the form and character of development, as well as defining social, economic and environmental policies. An OCP review and updating involves significant public involvement from start to finish to ensure that its goals and policies reflect community concerns and hopes for the future. The City’s existing OCP was adopted in 2008 and is now 12 years old. Much has happened since the current plan was adopted and Rossland has been experiencing steady growth and is projected to continue to be a desirable place to settle. The updated OCP will provide a renewed vision for Rossland for the next decade and beyond. Your input will help shape the OCP and ensure Rossland is Future Ready.
