Josephine - a burlesque cabaret dream play comes to Rossland Miners' hall next week!

“Josephine” is a one-woman biographical musical that combines cabaret, theatre, and dance to tell the astounding story of the iconic burlesque performer Josephine Baker.

“If there’s a truly must-see show...it’s Josephine” - Winnipeg Free Press

Before Ella, Tina, Billie, or Beyoncé, there was Josephine, one of the most remarkable figures of the 20th Century and the first African American international superstar. Performing in men’s clothing before the term “drag” was commonly used, her success often gave her the opportunity to live free from racial oppression in her adopted home of France.

“Harris is a magnetic performer, strong singer, and high-powered dancer” Critic’s Pick -San Diego Union Tribune – 5 stars

Ground-breaking, both on and off the stage, Josephine was a spy for the French Resistance in WWII, a civil rights activist, and mother to 12 adopted children. Her relationships included multiple interracial marriages and same-sex partnerships in a time when both were taboo.

“Josephine” is an intimate, charming and haunting cabaret that shatters stereotypes of race, gender roles, and sexuality.

"Probably the closest to an evening with Josephine Baker as one will ever experience."- Stage Biz NYC
