Three new carvings are being sculpted for Centennial Trail! Come check out the Wood Carving Symposium June 23-26 in the parking lot at the corner of Spokane Street and Columbia Avenue. This unique event brings three artists to downtown Rossland creation of three wood sculptures from raw logs in the theme "Courage and Movement" to replace existing ones on our Centennial Trailhead for trail users to enjoy year-round when hiking, biking, snowshoeing or Nordic skiing. The sculptures will be carved live so the community has the opportunity to witness the process of making from concept through to fruition. The carvers are Tka'ast (Trevor Angus), Damian John and Lars Baggenstos. Tka'ast is Gitxsan/Wetsuwetan born in Kispiox, Damian John, a self taught Tl'azt'en artist (see his site Caribouwoman), and Lars Baggenstos a Zurich trained Rossland artist who creates wood sculptures, paintings and illustrations.
