Kootenay Savings Music in the Park The Eisenhauers and Meredith Moon

August 1 6:15 to 8:00 pm

This week, the Trail & District Arts Council is very excited to present The Eisenhauers and Meredith Moon on August 1 in Gyro Park for Kootenay Savings Music in the Park.

Marvel at the beauty of the music of Meredith Moon and her band as they bring their modern Applachian folk sound to Trail for Kootenay Savings Music in the Park. Meredith, the daughter of Gordon Lightfoot, is a serious talent in her own right, as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who plays guitar, banjo and piano.

Meredith Moon started writing songs at the age of eight, became a self-taught guitar player at the age of fourteen, and only a few years later found her sound as a busker. After travelling the world by road and rail she found the inspiration for her unique style of songs, crafted in a true storyteller's fashion. She has been described as a 'gem' among the Old-Time music scene for her unusual expression of the genre, combining influences of folk-punk with traditional tunes.

Her first full-length album, "Forest Far Away" was released independently in May of 2018, and she released her second, "Constellations", in 2023, garnering international acclaim and a nomination for a Canadian Folk Music Award for Traditional Album of the Year.

“Moon writes heartfelt folk songs, sings beautifully, and plays several instruments masterfully." - Americana Highways

"There is a richness, a warmth, a homeliness, and an enthralling honesty to her music...." - Spirit Rocks

Opening the night at 6:15 pm are The Eisenhauers, the husband and wife duo of Jeremy Eisenhauer and Sheree Plett Eisenhauer from Kimberley BC, who blend traditional alt-country with modern folk with new innovation and depth.

After twelve years of living and making music together and recording eight solo albums between them as ‘Eisenhauer’ and ‘Sheree Plett’, their album, ‘The Road We Once Knew’ is their debut as a duo. Much of their music is inspired by their move from Vancouver to the relative seclusion of Kaslo, and now Kimberley, where the vastness sometimes leaves you with only the trees and lakes for company.

Jeremy says, “Our music is more about conveying a feeling than about technical perfection. We are steeped in the tradition of using music to tell stories. Like Emmylou Harris says, ‘style is a product of your limitations.’”

The band have just finished recording their second album, “Harmony through Hard Times” and will be bringing the new music to Music in the Park!

“The band explores an often quiet, distinctly Canadian approach to song craft which paints an ideal backdrop for their soothing harmonies.” - Exclaim! Magazine
