Walter Ego by L’Aubergine - Teck Family Series

February 23 3:00 to 4:10 pm

The Trail & District Arts Council presents Walter Ego by L’Aubergine, a captivating and funny show for kids ages 5-12 years old and their families to enjoy together. The show is on Sunday, February 23 at 3:00 pm in The Bailey Theatre and is part of the TECK Family Series.

Through juggling and clown work Walter Ego ignites children’s imaginations. He encourages audiences to be bold and imagine their dreams to create their own fantastical realms in this physical theatre show .

In this show, Mr. Walter lives his life alone in his little apartment. As soon as he wakes up, Ms. Weather Reporter announces his mood for the day: sunny, grey, or dark and stormy. But one day the unexpected happens. There’s dead silence. Walter is disoriented.

What if this sudden change affects the world around him? His vision is distorted: objects come to life and revolt! Is this a surrealist nightmare or does he simply have his head in the clouds? In this world where anything can happen, he can finally dream, and let his imagination run wild.

Benoît Lemay (Walter Ego) started playing music at the tender age of five and first took to the stage at 15 as a circus performer. Through his years of training at the École de Cirque de Québec, he learned juggling, the Chinese pole, the Russian bar, and clowning.

In 1995, he co-founded Les Tourisk, a juggler-unicyclist quartet, who, in 1997, the International Juggling Association awarded Les Tourisk the Gold Medal and the People’s Choice Award in Las Vegas. In 2008, Cirque du Soleil called on the jugglers to be part of a major show created to mark Quebec City’s 400th Anniversary. That same year, Benoît co-founded Théâtre A Tempo. La Grande Étude, the company’s first show, has now been presented more than 600 times since its creation.

Since its founding in 1974, L’Aubergine has delighted both the young and the young at heart, carving out its own unique niche by combining the arts of clowning, the circus, music, and theatrical and movement techniques.
