Notice of Road Closures: 2025 Rossland Winter Carnival The City of Rossland has approved the following road closures and traffic management measures to accommodate the 2025 Rossland Winter Carnival. Residents and visitors are advised to take note of the closures and plan accordingly. ROAD CLOSURES Queen Street (South of Columbia Avenue) Closed for the Winter Carnival Ice Palace. Closure period: 8:00 AM, Wednesday, January 22nd to 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 26th, 2025. Queen Street (Columbia Avenue to First Avenue) Closed for the Winter Carnival Rail Jam. Closure period: 8:00 AM, Wednesday, January 22nd to 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 26th, 2025. Spokane Street (Kirkup Avenue to Columbia Avenue) Closed for the Sonny Samuelson Bobsled Race. Closure period: Beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 25th, 2025. The road will be sanded and accessible to vehicles immediately following the completion of the race. Note that course development for the Sonny Samuelson Bobsled race may temporarily impact residents the week leading up to Carnival. Traffic Management on Kirkup Avenue From the intersection of Highway 3B to Spokane Street, for race staging activities. Managed access: Beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 25th, 2025. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Winter Carnival Parade Impacting vehicle access & traffic along Columbia Avenue (Hwy 3B) between St. Paul and Spokane Ave. on Friday January 24th between 6:30pm and 7:00pm. Parade staging to take place on Columbia Avenue near Butte - please choose an alternate route where possible. Noise Exemption: Amplified music will be permitted at the Ice Palace from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM on January 24th and 25th, 2025. Parking Restrictions: Parking will not be allowed on the closed streets during the closure periods. DETOUR ROUTES Detours will be clearly marked to facilitate traffic flow around the affected areas. Parking restrictions will be in effect on the affected streets during the closure periods. Residents and businesses in the vicinity are advised to plan accordingly and remove vehicles from these streets prior to the closure times. This includes limitations in vehicle access in and out of resident driveways on Spokane Avenue and Rossland Yards during the Bobsled race. Please share with your neighbours!
