Family Day at Trail Silver City Days

Get out your sunscreen, wear a hat, and bring the whole family down to sunny Gyro Park from noon until 3 pm for a free afternoon of Family Day fun on May 11!

The ingenious musical comedy show, Molly’s Comedy Cabaret "Be A Rock Star" sing-a-long, boasts lots of fun for the whole family.

Molly Wilson combines charm and wit, packaged with hilarious takes on crowd-pleasing hit pop and musical theatre songs. Molly is described as “a charming powerhouse performer with a voice that takes your breath away. ”A show to amaze and entertain everyone!

Molly’s Comedy Cabaret "Be A Rock Star" sing-a-long is a 20-minute show at 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. and suitable for all ages. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle under the circus tent.

Want to help paint a mural? For the second year we’ll be creating a community mural on the wall of a building near the water park and you can join in!

Muralist Sheldon Pierre Louis is a multi-disciplinary Okanagan/Syilx Artist. He is a co-founder and the lead visual artist of the Kama? Creative Aboriginal Arts Collective and is a member of Ullus Collective, both groups based in Syilx Art. In addition to his own work, Sheldon has worked with youth on projects including the creation of a large community mural with members of the Okanagan Indian Band and in conjunction with the Kelowna Secondary School’s Honours Art 12 class. This portion of the event is a VISAC and Trail Arts Council collaboration.

Kids can join us at the Arts and Crafts tent run by the VISAC Art Gallery. This year you can learn how to paint local Native Plants with watercolour pencils led by artist Melanie Mercier. So come make a card for mom or painting for someone special in your life.

Melanie is an artist, ecological horticulturist, and geologist using her artwork to inspire environmental stewardship. She advocates for species at risk while raising awareness and appreciation for our precious ecosystems. Her artistic style is inspired by the intricate beauty of nature, blending her signature conifer trees and sunsets with abstract elements, upcycling, and her love for pollinators and native plants.

As it’s Mother’s Day we will have a special ‘Mom’s relaxation zone’, courtesy of Madhu Collective, where there will be ½ hour yoga classes at 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00 pm with the rest of the time as a general relaxation zone……Mom’s only! So bring someone along to watch the kids so mom can have a well-deserved chill-out session.

Handing out flowers for mom will be our friends from RE/MAX All Pro Realty in Trail!

Plus, there will be Teck's Mining for Miracles Dunk Tank and Trail’s Fair Society will host a fun, physical activity for the little ones as well as face painting with Yarnia. You’ll even be able to get your face painted!

Continuing the tradition of great food at Silver City Days, Family Day will be hosting a variety of food vendors.

So, join us in Gyro Park for an afternoon of free performances and activities. And don’t forget to bring some cash for all the great food!
