Baby Robin
Submitted by acooke on Sun, 28/07/2024 - 5:15pm
We have a baby Robin on the ground in our backyard and the adult Robin's are going nuts. Does anyone know if they will somehow figure out how to get it back in the nest, or should we move it? It doesn't seem injured but won't fly. Town: Rossland, BC |

Hey, I'm not an expert....but here's a link to advice from the Cornell Bird Lab
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/i-found-a-baby-bird-what-do-i-do/#:~:text=If%20you%20can%20find%20the,has%20been%20touched%20by%20humans.
In summary, if it's a nestling, then go ahead and put it back in the next. If it's a fledgling...meaning it might be able to fly a bit but weakly, then it's parents will try to protect it and encourage it to fly or hop somewhere safer.
If it's a fledgling, then keep an eye on it, and watch for cats/predators. If you can encourage into taking cover under a shrub, that would be helpful. Thanks for caring.
