Trail & District Arts Council presents Blue Jean for Monday Cinema on November 27 at 4 pm at The Royal Theatre in trail.

In 1988, a closeted teacher is pushed to the brink when a new student threatens to expose her sexuality.

Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government is about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, forcing Jean, a gym teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school catalyses a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.

Bridging times past with issues that are still current, Blue Jean resonates intellectually and emotionally thanks to thoughtful direction and authentic performances.

Nov 27: Blue Jean - Based around the passing of homophobic laws in Thatcher's England the film looks at these issues from the viewpoint of a closeted lesbian who has to choose between her job as a teacher and her identity.
