Carnival Schedule?
Submitted by bikeskiswim on Mon, 20/01/2025 - 12:26pm
I can't imagine being someone who lives out of town trying to plan to attend winter carnival - the website schedule seems to be a mix of this years dates and last years events. On one hand it says carnival starts on Thursday, and on the same page it says that Blizzard Fest starts on Saturday. The only advertising so far seems to be on the Rossland sign on Columbia, which out of towners cannot see anyways. Sad that this amazing event is not being promoted well. Hopefully our town still benefits from tourists who may or may not have any idea what is happening this week. Thank you to all of the volunteers working to make Carnival happen this year, but perhaps you need more assistance with marketing and website updates? Town: Rossland, BC |

I totally agree. It is not up to date, and is confusing
You thank the volunteers and then tell them its not good enough. Charming. An offer to assist would be a nice way to end this post. Or share what volunteering you are doing and share the info on how to volunteer.
Email volunteers@rosslandwintercarnival.com to sign-up or for more information.
I believe that bikeskiswim did thank the volunteers. It seems that the post was to bring awareness to the scheduleing and overall promotion of this awesome event. So many volunteers work hard to make this weekend happen and it would just be a shame if locals and tourists a like missed out on events because they did not know about them. Thank you for the volunteer information email, hopefully once a scheudle is out people can sign up to help out. Happy Winter Carnival !
All I said was that it would be unfortunate to be travelling here from out of town for carnival, and not having any idea what is going on. Less than two days until this four day event starts and the schedule still is from 2024. It absolutely IS confusing. And will surely deter people from attending, or atleast will frustrate some people because there is no way to know what is happening when. I do volunteer, but carnival is not my responsibility. I don't understand why our society has become so sensitive and absolutely unable to take constructive criticism. No need to pussyfoot around here - if you're going to sign up to do a job, then do it. If you need more help of a specific kind, in this instance marketing and website design, then acknowledge that you need help and ask for it. The entire event, and our community as a whole, will be negatively affected by this inability to post a proper schedule in advance. Its that simple.
Excellent info re events here

Yes, the schedule was finally posted this morning. Which is great. Thank you to the volunteers for posting that.
My point stands.
Nevertheless, Happy Carnival! I hope everyone has a safe weekend.
