VW Jetta Wagon 1.9TDI

Standard transmission, leather interior, sunroof

768,000km (not a typo, it's seen some things)

It's been very reliable for us for the last 12 years, we're the 3rd owner and bought it with ~515k km on it. First owner was a salesman so lots of highway time.

Pros:

Good on fuel (6-7L/100km)

Heated seats

Good tires: 4 studded winter tires, non-studded winter tire spare, comes with 4 summers on rims and chains for if you really get stuck.

No major mechanical issues, drives nicely. Oil changes done every 8,000 km, turbo replaced 2 years ago, alternator and battery replaced within the last 2 years.

Cons:

It has some body rust in the front quarter panels, rockers, rear quarters and rear door. Not a show car.

Has a tear in the drivers seat.

AC doesn't really work.

Some of the door sensors don't work so it will auto lock itself sometimes when the key is still in the car

Engine light is on due to removed EGR system (doesn't affect performance) and an occaisional misfire in the 4th cylinder (runs a little rough on cold start sometimes but once warm seems fine). We've driven it this way for a year or so, you can pay for an ECU tune that can remove the engine light due to the EGR system but we didn't bother.

It has 768,000km on it, it's in quite good shape for that many kilometers but I wouldn't rely on it working perfectly for another 10 years.
